Author Guidelines
Introduction
Thank you for your interest in the Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics. Please review the following instructions to assist in preparing your manuscript, and feel free to contact us with any questions. To ensure a fast review and publication, manuscripts that do not comply with the following instructions will be returned to the corresponding author for technical revisions before proceeding with the review. We look forward to receiving your materials.
Checklist for Submission
Please:
-
Familiarize yourself with the journal’s aims and scope to gain an understanding and assess whether your manuscript is suitable for the journal;
-
Use the Microsoft Word or LaTeX template to prepare your manuscript;
-
Ensure that issues regarding publication ethics, copyright, authorship, image formats, data, and citation formatting are appropriately addressed;
-
Confirm that all authors have approved the content of the submitted manuscript and acknowledge they have reviewed the author guidelines.
Submission Process
Manuscripts for Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics must be submitted online at https://ujmph.uz/index.php/journal/about/submissions. The submitting author, who is typically the corresponding author, is responsible for the manuscript throughout the submission and review process. The submitting author must ensure that all co-authors are included in the authorship list (read the criteria for authorship qualification) and that all co-authors have read and approved the submitted version of the manuscript. To submit a manuscript, register and log in to the submission site.
Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics accepts the following types of manuscripts:
-
Article: These are original research manuscripts. The work should report scientifically validated experiments and provide a substantial amount of new information. The article should include the most recent and relevant references in the field. The structure should include the sections “Abstract,” “Keywords,” “Introduction,” “Materials and Methods,” “Results,” “Discussion,” and “Conclusion” (optional).
Before proceeding to the online submission site, please prepare your manuscript according to the instructions provided below. Using text processing software is important to ensure that the file is saved in the format of the text processor used. The text should be in a single-column format. Keep the text structure as simple as possible. Most formatting codes will be removed and replaced during article processing. In particular, avoid using text processor settings to align text or set word breaks. However, feel free to use bold, italics, subscript and superscript, etc. When preparing tables, if you use a table grid, use only one grid for each separate table, not a grid for each row. If no grid is used, use tabs, not spaces, to align columns. Electronic text should be prepared as a standard manuscript overleaf.com (LaTeX template). Please note that original files for images, tables, and graphical text will be required whether or not you embed the images in the text. To avoid unnecessary mistakes, we strongly recommend using the “spell check” and “grammar check” functions of your text processor.
File Submission Requirements
All materials should be prepared with the following files:
-
Accepted File Formats
We recommend that authors use the Microsoft Word or LaTeX template to prepare their manuscript. Using the template file will significantly reduce the time spent on editing and publishing accepted manuscripts. The total size of all files should not exceed 12 MB. If this is an issue, please contact the editorial office. The following file formats are accepted:-
Microsoft Word: Manuscripts prepared in Microsoft Word should be converted into a single file before submission. When preparing manuscripts in Microsoft Word, we recommend using the Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics Microsoft Word template. Please insert your graphic images (diagrams, drawings, etc.) in the main text after the paragraph of the first citation.
-
LaTeX: Manuscripts prepared in LaTeX should be compiled into one ZIP folder (including all source files and images so the editorial office can recompile the submitted PDF file). When preparing manuscripts in LaTeX, we recommend using LaTeX template files.
-
Additional Files: These can be in any format, but we recommend using common, non-patented formats where possible.
-
Disclaimer: The use of these templates is intended solely for submission to the journal for review and is strictly limited to this purpose; they should not be used for publication on preprint servers or other websites.
Preparing the Manuscript
General Considerations
Scientific manuscripts must include:
-
Introduction: Title, list of authors, affiliations, abstract, keywords.
-
Research Manuscript Sections: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions (optional).
-
Additional Materials: Additional materials, Acknowledgments, Author Contributions, Conflict of Interest, References.
Introduction
These sections must appear in all types of manuscripts:
-
Title: The title of your manuscript should be brief, specific, and relevant. Please do not include abbreviations or short forms of the title. They will be removed by the editorial office.
-
List of Authors and Affiliations: Full names and surnames of authors must be provided. You may include initials for any middle names. Affiliations should be in the standard PubMed/MEDLINE format: full address information, including city, postal code, state/province, and country. At least one author should be designated as the corresponding author. Email addresses for all authors will be displayed in the published articles. The corresponding author must ensure that consent for displaying email addresses from all authors has been obtained. If any author (other than the corresponding author) does not wish to have their email address displayed, the corresponding author must indicate this during the proof stage. After acceptance, changes to authors' names or affiliations may not be permitted. Equal Contribution: Authors who contributed equally should be marked with a superscript (†). This symbol should be included below the affiliations, along with the statement: “These authors contributed equally to this work.” Equal contributions should also be properly disclosed in the author contributions statement. Please refer to the criteria necessary for recognizing authorship.
-
Abstract: The abstract should be no more than 200 words. For research articles, the abstract should provide a brief overview of the work. We strongly encourage authors to use a structured abstract style, but without separate section headings. Objective: The objective in a research article should clearly state the main goal of the study, indicating what the authors aim to achieve or investigate. It should be brief, clear, and reflect the main direction of the work. Materials and Methods: Briefly describe the main methods or approaches applied in the study. Results: Summarize the key results of the article. Conclusion: State the main conclusions or interpretations. The abstract should objectively reflect the content of the article, without including results that are not presented or substantiated in the main text, and without exaggerating the main conclusions.
-
Keywords: After the abstract, please include three to ten relevant keywords. We recommend that keywords be specific to the article but sufficiently common within the field.
Manuscript Sections
-
Introduction: The introduction should briefly present the study in a broad context and highlight its significance. The aim of the work should be clearly defined, and its importance emphasized. The current state of research in the field should be carefully reviewed, with key publications mentioned. Controversial or divergent hypotheses should be outlined if necessary. Finally, state the main goal of the work and highlight the key findings. If possible, make the introduction understandable to scientists outside your specific research area. References to journal articles [1], books [2,3], or other types of references [4–6].
-
Materials and Methods: This section should be detailed enough for others to replicate the study and rely on the published results. Please note that submitting your manuscript implies the obligation to provide access to all materials, data, software code, and protocols related to the publication. Indicate any restrictions on the availability of materials or information during submission. New methods and protocols should be described in detail, while well-established methods can be briefly described with appropriate references. Manuscripts reporting large datasets stored in public repositories should specify where the data are stored and provide the corresponding access numbers. If access numbers are not obtained at the time of submission, indicate that they will be provided during the review process. Numbers should be provided before publication. Intervention studies involving animals or humans, or other studies requiring ethical approval, should include information about the reviewing body and the relevant ethical approval code.
-
Results: Present a concise and accurate description of the experimental results, their interpretation, and the experimental conclusions that can be drawn.
-
Discussion: Authors should discuss the results and their interpretation in the context of previous research and the working hypothesis. Findings and their implications should be discussed in the broadest context. Future research directions may also be highlighted.
-
Conclusion: This section is not mandatory, but may be included if the discussion is unusually lengthy or complex.
-
Patents: This section is optional but may be added if patents were obtained as a result of the work described in the manuscript.
-
Author Contributions: For research articles with multiple authors, provide a short paragraph outlining their individual contributions. Use the following phrasing: "Conceptualization, X.X. and Y.Y.; methodology, X.X.; software, X.X.; validation, X.X., Y.Y., and Z.Z.; formal analysis, X.X.; investigation, X.X.; resources, X.X.; data curation, X.X.; writing the original draft, X.X.; writing and editing, X.X.; visualization, X.X.; supervision, X.X.; project administration, X.X.; funding acquisition, Y.Y. All authors have read and approved the published version of the manuscript." Please refer to the CRediT taxonomy for explanation of terms. Authorship should be limited to those who made significant contributions to the work presented.
-
Funding Statement: Please add: "This research did not receive external funding" or "This research was funded by the grant NAME OF FUNDER, number XXX." Also add "APC was funded by XXX." Carefully check that the provided data is accurate and use the standard naming format for funders at https://search.crossref.org/funding; any errors may affect your future funding.
-
Ethical Compliance: This section should include a statement about the approval from the institutional review board and the approval number, if applicable. You may choose to exclude this statement if the study did not require ethical approval. Note that the editorial board may request additional information. Please add: "The study was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki and was approved by the Institutional Review Board (or Ethics Committee) NAME OF INSTITUTE (protocol code XXX and approval date)." for studies involving humans. OR "The animal study protocol was approved by the Institutional Review Board (or Ethics Committee) NAME OF INSTITUTE (protocol code XXX and approval date)." for studies involving animals. OR "Ethical review and approval were waived for this study due to REASON (please provide detailed justification)." OR "Not applicable" for studies not involving humans or animals.
-
Informed Consent for Publication: Any scientific article describing research involving humans should include the following statement. Please add: "Informed consent was obtained from all participants in the study." OR "Patient consent was waived due to REASON (please provide detailed justification)." OR "Not applicable" for studies not involving humans. You may also choose to omit this statement if the study did not involve humans. Written informed consent for publication should be obtained from patients who can be identified (including the patients themselves). Please state "Written informed consent was obtained from the patient(s) for publication of this article" if applicable.
-
Data Availability Statement: We encourage all authors of articles published in the journal to share their research data. In this section, please specify where the data supporting the presented results can be found, including links to publicly available archived datasets that were analyzed or generated during the research. If no new data were created or data are unavailable due to confidentiality or ethical restrictions, a relevant statement should be provided.
-
Acknowledgments: In this section, you may acknowledge any support not mentioned in the author contributions or funding sections. This may include administrative and technical support or in-kind donations (e.g., materials used in experiments).
-
Conflict of Interest: "State any conflicts of interest or declare: 'The authors declare no conflict of interest.' Authors must disclose and state any personal circumstances or interests that may be perceived to influence the presentation or interpretation of the research results. Any role of sponsors in the development of the research, in the collection, analysis, or interpretation of data, in the writing of the manuscript, or in the decision to publish the results should be stated in this section. If sponsors had no role, state: 'Sponsors did not participate in the development of the research; in the collection, analysis, or interpretation of data; in the writing of the manuscript; or in the decision to publish the results.'"
-
References: References should be numbered in the order they appear in the text (including figure and table captions) and listed at the end of the manuscript. We recommend using reference management software such as EndNote, ReferenceManager, or Zotero to avoid typos and duplicate references. We encourage citing datasets, computer codes, and other materials that can be cited in scientific research. If materials are available online, you may use the citation style indicated below under number 9.
In-text citation numbers should be enclosed in square brackets [ ] and placed before punctuation marks; e.g., [1], [1–3], or [1,3]. For embedded citations with page numbers, use both round and square brackets to indicate the reference number and page numbers; e.g., [5] (p. 10) or [6] (pp. 101–105).
The reference list should include full details as recommended by the Elsevier / Vancouver numeric style guide. Style files for Endnote and Zotero are available.
