Archiving Policy

1. Introduction
The "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" is committed to the long-term preservation and continuous access to the scientific research it publishes. We recognize the importance of maintaining comprehensive and stable records of scientific works for future researchers, historians, and the public. This policy outlines the measures taken by the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" and its publisher, I-EDU GROUP LLC, to ensure the ongoing availability of the published materials.

2. Description
Digital archiving in scientific publications involves a set of processes and activities that ensure the identification, preservation, and provision of information to users, maintaining its value regardless of technological changes or the lifespan of the original publication platform. The main objectives of the archiving strategy for the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" are:

  • To ensure continuous and uninterrupted access to all published scientific articles.

  • To protect the intellectual property of the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" from loss due to technical failures, natural disasters, or journal discontinuation.

  • To maintain the usability, authenticity, and integrity of archived content.

3. Policy Details
The "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" employs a multifaceted approach to ensure the long-term preservation and accessibility of its content:

  • Publisher-managed archiving and website access:

    • All articles published in the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" are permanently available and free of charge on the official journal website: https://ujmph.uz/.

    • The website and its content are regularly backed up as part of the IT infrastructure and data management policy of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulughbek.

  • Third-party digital preservation services:

    • The "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" ensures the long-term preservation of its published content using reliable, internationally recognized digital archiving services:

      • Portico: The "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" participates in the Portico digital storage service. This agreement is implemented through a partnership between I-EDU GROUP LLC and Portico, which ensures reliable archiving of the complete catalog of published articles and their availability for future scholars, researchers, and students in the event that the journal is no longer accessible through the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulughbek or its own platform.

      • PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN): The "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" utilizes the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) plugin available through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. PKP PN ensures free, decentralized, and distributed preservation, providing additional protection for the journal's content by ensuring copies are stored in several participating libraries within the network.

    • These measures guarantee that the content of the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" remains accessible and preserved in various emergency situations.

  • Author self-archiving:

    • As an open-access journal publishing articles under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license, the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" allows and actively encourages authors to self-archive and share their works for maximum visibility and impact.

    • Authors may self-archive the following versions of their articles:

      • Submitted Version (Preprint): Authors are allowed to post the submitted version (preprint) at any time on personal websites, institutional repositories, or recognized non-commercial preprint servers (e.g., arXiv, INA-Rxiv, OSF Preprints).

      • Accepted Manuscript (Author Accepted Manuscript - AAM / Postprint): Authors are allowed to post their AAM (version accepted for publication after peer review but before editing and typesetting) in institutional repositories, subject-specific repositories, or on their personal websites immediately after acceptance, in accordance with the CC BY license terms.

      • Published Version (Version of Record - VoR): Authors are allowed to post the final published PDF version (VoR) of their article immediately after publication on personal websites, institutional repositories, ResearchGate, Academia.edu, or other platforms, in accordance with the CC BY license terms.

    • When self-archiving any version, authors must provide a full citation to the original publication in the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" and include a link to the published article on the journal’s website, using its Digital Object Identifier (DOI). The terms of the CC BY license must also be adhered to and clearly stated.

  • Permanent identifiers (DOI):

    • All articles published in the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" are assigned a unique and permanent Digital Object Identifier (DOI). DOIs provide a reliable and persistent link to the article’s location on the internet, even if the journal’s URL structure changes. The National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulughbek supports obtaining DOIs for the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics."

  • Metadata collection:

    • The "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" supports and allows the collection of metadata for its articles through indexing services, abstracting databases, libraries, and other scientific search tools (e.g., via OAI-PMH). This increases the accessibility and ease of searching for the journal’s content.

  • Succession Plan / Publication Discontinuation:

    • In the unlikely event of the discontinuation of the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics," I-EDU GROUP LLC, as the publisher, will take all necessary steps to ensure the preservation and accessibility of all previously published content. This includes ensuring access to content via Portico, the PKP Preservation Network, and/or the institutional repository of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulughbek. Authors and readers will be notified of any such transition.

4. Technical Aspects of Policy Implementation and Materialization

  • Publication Formats:
    The "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" primarily publishes articles in PDF format, and HTML versions are available for online viewing, ensuring wide accessibility and ease of use. Original files (e.g., OJS XML) are also archived within the journal’s management system.

  • Backup Procedures:
    Regular automatic backups of the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" website and all its content are performed and managed by the IT services of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulughbek.

  • Collaboration with Archiving Services:
    The "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics," through I-EDU GROUP LLC, continues to support Portico in terms of comprehensive and long-term storage. The journal’s OJS platform is set up to use PKP PN, ensuring the automatic placement of published content in the distributed PKP PN network.

  • Website Maintenance:
    The "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" website is actively maintained by I-EDU GROUP LLC to ensure optimal performance, security, and continuous availability of its content, except for periods of planned maintenance (which will be minimized and announced if possible).
    This archiving policy will be periodically reviewed and updated as necessary, considering technological advancements, best practices, and available information preservation services. The "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" strives to ensure that its contribution to the fields of industrial engineering and systems optimization remains an integral part of the scientific legacy.
