1. Introduction

The "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" is an open-access journal dedicated to the widespread dissemination of scientific research results. This policy defines the principles and rules regarding intellectual property (IP) for works published in the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics," including copyright, licensing, and the responsibilities of authors and the journal. We aim to ensure clarity of information for authors, readers, and the entire academic community, fostering an environment of ethical knowledge exchange and innovation. The "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" adheres to the Core Principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in relation to intellectual property.

The "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" believes in empowering authors by allowing them to retain the copyright for their works. Articles are published under a Creative Commons license, which supports open access while ensuring proper attribution and defining usage rights.

2. Description

  • Intellectual Property (IP): Refers to creations of the mind, such as inventions, literary and artistic works, designs, symbols, names, and images used in commerce. In scientific publications, intellectual property is primarily related to copyright and licensing of original works.

  • Copyright: The legal right granted to the creator (or owner) of an original work, including literary, artistic, and scientific works, to control its use and distribution.

  • Open Access: The "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" is an open-access journal, meaning its content is freely available online, allowing any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to full texts of these articles, scan them for indexing, transmit them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose without financial, legal, or technical barriers, other than those inseparable from access to the Internet itself.

  • Licensing: Permission granted by the copyright holder to others to use the copyrighted work under certain conditions. Articles in the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" are published under Creative Commons licenses.

    • CC BY (Attribution): This license allows others to copy, distribute, modify, and publish the work for both commercial and non-commercial purposes. The only condition is that the authors of the original work must be credited. The license does not limit the ways in which the material can be used, but it requires that authorship be properly acknowledged.

  • Plagiarism: The act of presenting someone else's work or ideas as one’s own without proper attribution. This is a serious violation of intellectual property rights and academic integrity.

  • Redundant/Overlapping Publication: Publishing a work that substantially duplicates another work already published by the same author(s) without appropriate cross-references or justification. This is also considered unacceptable practice.

  • Preprint: Refers to the dissemination of research findings before official publication in a journal, such as in theses, conference materials, working papers, or on preprint servers.

  • Copyright for Reviews: Intellectual property rights related to the content of review reports.

3. Policy

  • Ownership of Rights Belongs to the Authors:

    • Authors retain all copyrights for their articles published in the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics."

    • The "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" does not require authors to transfer their copyrights to the journal or its publisher.

  • Publication License:

    • All articles published in the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY) license.

    • This license allows any user to distribute (copy and distribute the material in any format and on any medium) and adapt (create remixes, transform, and build upon the material) the work for both commercial and non-commercial purposes, provided that:

      • Authors and the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" are credited, including a link to the official publication via DOI.

      • A link to the CC BY license is provided.

      • Any changes made to the material must be clearly indicated.

      • If the material is remixed, transformed, or supplemented, the modified material must be distributed under the same CC BY license.

  • Rights and Responsibilities of Authors:

    • Authors grant the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" a license to publish the article as the initial publisher and to identify themselves as such.

    • Authors are free to share, post, and reuse their published works (e.g., in institutional repositories, on personal websites, and in subsequent works) according to the terms of the CC BY license, ensuring proper attribution to the original publication in the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics."

    • Authors are solely responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions to reproduce or adapt any third-party materials (e.g., figures, tables, extensive quotes) included in their manuscript before submission. Confirmation of such permissions must be provided to the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" upon request.

  • Copyright for Review Reports:

    • Reviewers providing reports to the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" retain the copyrights to their reviews.

    • The "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" respects the intellectual property rights of reviewers and will apply the policy with the explicit consent of reviewers regarding the dissemination or licensing of their reports.

  • Plagiarism, Redundant Publication, and Research Integrity:

    • The "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" adheres to a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism and redundant/duplicate publications.

    • All submitted materials are checked for originality using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts containing plagiarism or substantially redundant material will be rejected or, if published, retracted.

    • Authors must ensure that their work is original and that all sources are properly cited.

  • Prepublication Policy:

    • The "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" has a clear definition of what constitutes prepublication, which may prevent consideration of the manuscript (e.g., working papers, theses, conference materials, preprints on a server) as specified in the "Instructions for Authors."

    • Authors must fully disclose any prior distribution or current submission of the work to other sources or closely related works at the time of manuscript submission.

  • Publication Costs:

    • The "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" aims to provide authors with open access without financial barriers. As such, the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" does not charge authors any article processing fees (APCs), submission fees, or other publication-related fees. This will be clearly stated on the journal's website.

  • Intellectual Property of the Journal:

    • The name "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics," its logo, and other distinctive brand elements are the intellectual property of the journal and its publisher (I-EDU GROUP LLC) and may not be used without prior written permission.

4. Technical Aspects of Policy Implementation

  • Copyright and Licensing Information for Articles:

    • Each published article will contain a clear statement that the author(s) retain copyright.

    • Each published article (both in HTML and PDF formats) will clearly indicate the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY) license under which it is distributed, along with a link to the full text of the license.

    • Comprehensive information about copyright and licensing terms will be available on the journal's website.

  • Copyright Agreement:

    • By accepting the manuscript for publication, authors agree that they are the copyright holders (or have the authority from all copyright holders) and that they agree to publish their article under the CC BY license, granting the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" a license for the first publication.

  • Permissions for Use of Third-Party Materials:

    • Authors must obtain written permission from copyright holders for any third-party materials (e.g., figures, tables, extensive text excerpts) they wish to include in their manuscript, if their use does not fall under fair use or other exceptions to copyright.

    • Authors must provide copies of these permissions to the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" upon request and include appropriate attribution in the manuscript as specified by the copyright holder.

  • Definition and Handling of Preprints:

    • The "Instructions for Authors" of the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" will outline the author's position on what constitutes prior publication. In general, posting manuscripts on recognized preprint servers (such as arXiv, RePEc, or institutional preprint servers), presenting at scientific conferences (as abstracts or posters), and including in a thesis does not preclude consideration for publication in the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" provided full disclosure is made upon submission. Authors should reference any preprint version.

  • Plagiarism Check:

    • All submissions to the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" will be processed using plagiarism detection software (e.g., https://antiplagiat.ru/) to assess originality.

    • If potential plagiarism or significant overlap is detected, the manuscript will undergo further investigation in accordance with the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics' Policy on Allegations of Misconduct" and COPE guidelines.

  • Author Self-Archiving:

    • Authors are permitted and encouraged to post versions of their work (preprints, accepted manuscript, and/or final published version) in institutional or other non-commercial repositories of their choice, provided that proper attribution to the original publication in the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" is made with a full citation of the DOI of the published article under the CC BY license. Detailed information on which versions may be archived and any embargo periods (if applicable, but generally not for CC BY licenses) will be available on the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" website.

  • Availability and Indexing:

    • As an open-access journal, the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics" guarantees that all published articles will be immediately and permanently available for free reading, downloading, and distribution by anyone in accordance with the terms of the CC BY license.

This intellectual property policy aims to protect authors' rights while ensuring the broad dissemination and use of research published in the "Uzbek Journal of Modern Physics," in line with the principles of open access.
